Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Residents of Kolkata and nearby areas will face water supply disruptions from 9 am on December 16 (Monday) to 6 am on December 17 (Tuesday) due to repair work at the Tala pumping station. The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has issued a notification regarding the temporary inconvenience.
As per KMC sources, the water supply will be partially halted during this period to facilitate the installation of new equipment and the repair of leakages in the tank at the Tala pumping station. This essential maintenance work aims to enhance the efficiency and reliability of the water distribution system in the long run.
Apart from Kolkata, some areas in Salt Lake and South Dum Dum municipal regions will also be affected. Authorities have advised residents in these areas to store sufficient water in advance to manage their needs during the disruption.
A senior KMC official stated, "We observed significant leakage issues in the Tala tank. The maintenance work is crucial to prevent water wastage and ensure better service for residents." The water supply is expected to resume and stabilize by Tuesday morning. Residents are urged to cooperate with the authorities during this necessary maintenance period.
